Reserve My Free SpotMany children practise their instrument, sport, or performance skill for years.
They work hard.
They improve.
They show real talent.
But when the moment arrives to perform…
• nerves appear
• confidence disappears
• and everything suddenly feels much harder.
Parents often wonder:
Why does this happen when my child is so capable?
In this free workshop we explore why performance anxiety develops and what it means for confidence.
What You'll Discover
In this workshop you will learn:
👉 Why performance anxiety happens when we are being observed or evaluated
👉 How our thinking patterns influence confidence
👉 How the brain forms pathways that shape our responses to pressure
👉 Why confidence is something that can be developed rather than something a child either has or doesn’t have.
This understanding can completely change the way parents and young performers think about confidence.
A Different Way of Thinking About Confidence
Many people assume confidence means never feeling nervous.
But the reality is that even highly experienced performers still feel nerves.
The real difference is how they relate to those feelings and thoughts.
In this workshop we begin exploring how young performers can develop a healthier relationship with anxious thoughts and emotions.
Meet Jo-Anne
Hi, I'm Jo-Anne Roberts, founder of The Confidence Factory.
I’ve spent over 30 years teaching music and working with young performers.
Earlier in my own life I struggled with performance anxiety and confidence challenges myself.
Over time I began exploring the psychology behind performance anxiety and the ways young performers can develop stronger mental habits.
This workshop introduces some of the ideas that have helped many students begin changing the way they think about performance.
Who This Workshop Is For
This workshop is designed for parents of children who:
• play a musical instrument
• perform in dance, theatre or public performance
• experience nerves before performances or exams
• practise well but struggle when under pressure
What Happens After This Workshop
At the end of this workshop I’ll also share a simple tool parents can use to help their child begin noticing their thinking patterns around performance.
I will also introduce a deeper session for students and parents who want to begin developing the practical tools that help performers work with their thinking and build confidence under pressure.
If you’d like to better understand performance anxiety and how confidence develops, you’re very welcome to join us.
